…from CansaFis (of Bay Area freek rock band No Doctors.) CansaFis is showing some art in Oakland.
Playing catch up, here are some photos I’ve taken since returning to Oakland last month:

My new home at 671 24th St - the common area as seen from my bedroom.

Ditto.

Cows in Briones Park
.
Ditto, up close.

Chinatown, Oakland.

The beginnings of my project in Daniel Schmidt’s Instrument Building class. My vision is a hybrid of Asian zither (Qin, koto) and steel guitar. Of course it may very well end up being a plank with some strings on it…

The famous original Buchla synthesizer at Mills. In the bottom right is James Fei’s touch controller, which I was testing as a prototype for a controller I am building. More on that later.

Tony Conrad’s Film Feedback. From a screening of rare experimental films courtesy of James Fei. In 1974 Conrad actually did what is supposed to be impossible with a non-real time medium - feedback with film.
Tony Conrad - Film Feedback
1974, 16mm, black & white, silent, 14 minutes
"Made with a film-feedback team which I directed at Antioch College.
Negative image is shot from a small rear-projection screen, the film
comes out of the camera continuously (in the dark room) and is
immediately processed, dried, and projected on the screen by the team.
What are the qualities of film that may be made visible through
feedback?" - Tony Conrad
