Mahasamatman Week

TWO Mahasamatman shows this week:

Wednesday June 27 at Nightlight with my future Mills classmates Suzanne Thorpe and Philip White’s TheNumber46 and Brooklyn dance trio Modern Garage Movement, who are in town for ADF.

Then on Saturday June 30 we are playing Bull City HQ with our friends the most excellent Le Weekend and Minchia. This will probably be our “¡hasta luego!” show since I’m moving VERY SOON.

And in case that isn’t enough Myspace, you can now be our friend.

Here’s a Mahasamatman track, recorded June 18th in my living room.

These are our themes — drawn like water from a common well; these are the compositions that everyone everywhere writes in their dreams, the rich broth that we nourish ourselves with: THIS IS THE NEW COMMON PRACTICE — The 21st century Theme Park.” - Alvin Curran

I’ve been listening to Alvin Curran today (specifically, the stunning Songs and Views of the Magnetic Garden) and enjoying this generous collection of his writing.
