school daze
This sort of thing happens in a 10AM class at Mills. Props to Jordan Glenn (the composer of this performance), Andy Strain, and Jason Hoopes. And to Zeena Parkins, the instructor.
The semester is speeding to an end. One arduous final project is done: an acoustic piece written for an ensemble of clarinet, contrabassoon, percussion, violin, cello, and double bass. The ensemble came to Mills on Tuesday to record pieces written for them by students in Roscoe Mitchell’s composition seminar. I haven’t heard the recording of my piece yet, but all I can say is that I’m glad it’s over.
Still to come: class concerts for the composition and computer music (aka Supercollider) seminars and two research papers. And four weeks to make it all happen.
Kristin Erickson, Christopher Fleeger, and Anantha Krishnan kicking back after a long Tuesday a few weeks ago. Charity Chan and Philip White were our gracious hosts.
My fellow electronics players in a rehearsal in Sacramento for Pauline Oliveros’ “Red Shifts.” From left - Dean Santomieri, Luke Selden, Jen Boyd, and Ayako Kataoka.
My neighbor cat, pretending not to spy on me.
